WW- One Year Ago Today

Bogie was too little for the dentist's chair.

Monkey cooperated like a pro.

Yes, Bogie saw the dentist when he was just about a month old.
He was born with TWO teeth and he needed to be seen.

The fabulous dentist is Dr. (cousin) Crystal who went to Harvard Dental School. (Mr. Dunbar's cousin.)

To date, Bogie only has five teeth. Four on the top, one on the bottom.
He just may not get bottom front teeth until he's six- something like 70-80% chance. They had to pull the two teeth he came out with because his gum bed wasn't strong enough to hold them.
The boys are scheduled to go again soon.

Hello, again...

I've started a few projects around the house. Its like I've got ADD or ADHD, again. Haven't had it in about two years. Then a few weeks ago, about the time I was reading Twilight non-stop, my brain was on overdrive but I was so engrossed in the books I didn't pay it much attention. A few days ago an annoying friend came back to visit after two years! And well, its one of those things where you don't really like this "friend" but somehow their visit comes about once a month and you just have to throw up your hands and say "Staying a while?"

Aynhow, my energy is back, and that is a good thing. Pictures forthcoming... something about moving a desk (in the midst of my ADHD) and not connecting the cords right or something. Oh and I did the same thing with the phone...

Sunday Thought

Did you know that Jesus first miracle was turning water to wine at a wedding?

If you went to church today (Sandals Church) then of course you knew that.
But up until this morning, I had never given it much thought. Our Pastor gave a lot of background on this miracle and how Jesus' momma; Mary, was the one that called Him to it. Gotta love Moms, especially mom's of boys. (Of course I'm impartial.) Anyhow, Pastor Matt talked a lot about weddings, especially modern day weddings. It made me smile, as he was the one who performed our wedding. It was bliss until he asked my husband to marry himself. You can see a great picture of it here. It was a wonderful wedding, put together in three months. But even in three months I spent countless hours taking care of every detail I could possible think of. I mean I spent hours upon hours upon hours. But didn't we all? Then today I thought of Jesus and how he created wine (20 - 30 gallons) out of jugs of water because He could, because someone asked Him to do it. In a matter of a minute. No grapes. No fermentation process. No extended time. He did it because he could (and because His mom asked Him too.) Wow. He is a miracle worker, the creator of the heavens and earth. I need to remember that. I think I had forgotten what Jesus is truly capable of doing, if only I asked.

John 2 5-11
But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.
When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. 10 “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

Loving Mother Earth

In an effort to honor Earth Day today the boys each planted a fruit plant. Monkey: strawberries. Bogie: tomato. We talked about recycling, living "green," and why it's important to take care of God's creation; our earth.

I'm not really the green thumb in the Dunbar home, more like the 'black' thumb actually, but it was a fun adventure for all of us. (New camera, lots of dirt, little shovels, little hands and a solo mama don't mix.) The boys had a good time and I'm glad to have done my part to instill in them a virtue of taking care of our Mother Earth.

Bogie licking the watering can, I couldn't move fast enough.
Scooping up the organic potting mix.

Our final products put out in their new spot with full sun.
Jack the ladybug flew onto Monkey.

Do you know why ladybugs are important to our gardens?

The Saga is Over

Just in case you were wondering where I've been... I finally completed all of the Twilight books. Whoooo. They were so fascinating, and I had no nightmares so that was good. I must say that I absolutely adored Jacob. He made me laugh at I was so sad about his pain, but Edward is still the MAN. Any preferences? My friend told me yesterday if you go to the website there is a sneak preview of book five, 260 pages of it. Wow. If I start reading a novel online right now, Mr. Dunbar will kill me. So I am going to take a breather for a while.

Okay, back to normal Dunbar life now... pictures coming soon. (For Easter I got a Canon Rebel.)

Our Celebration

We had a nice Easter weekend. Saturday we celebrated with Mr. Dunbar's family. One of his cousins has a "farm" about an hour away. (I'm not sure if it is technically a farm. By this city girl's definition it is; lots of animals, land, barn and dirt equates to farm for me.) We had a nice lunch and the boys got to pet the horses, check out a chicken coop, and throw rocks across field with thier cousins till they were exhausted. It was a bit chilly, well really chilly, and my camera battery was dead so unfortunately there are no pictures to post of Saturday. Super bummed on that!! But it is always so much fun to hang out with Mr. Dunbar's family and catch up with family that we don't get to see very often.

Sunday morning we went to church and then headed over to my parent's house for our annual Easter breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny always visits Grandma and Papa's house and the boys made out with tons of stuff: clothes, snacks, toys, new baseball gloves and balls, toiletry items, and super cool shoes. And of course Monkey tore into the baskets the second they walked in the door I didn't even have a chance to grab the camera. (Note to self: Mom enters the house first on holidays.) It was a smaller celebration than usual but we made the best of it and the boys had a blast finding all of the eggs.
Even Bogie figured out how to pick up the eggs and drop them into the basket.
The eggs at Grandma and Papa's house are only filled with coins, so the baskets got pretty heavy, Monkey was dragging his around. He and Papa counted all of his money and watched TV on grandma's phone afterward, then he played baseball with Grandma.
Only picture of me on the holiday.
By the early afternoon the boys were wiped out.
Oh and the best part, the Easter Bunny always visits the adults too! Don't you want to know what we got?
Any guesses?
Can't reveal yet, my brother's haven't gotten theirs. C'mon take a shot at it though...
What do you think?
Thanks Mom and Dad!

Sunday Thought- He is risen

Today is the day dear friends, that Jesus rose from dead. A day of celebration, that He indeed, is our Lord and Christ.

He is not here; for he has risen, as he said!

The Easter Bunny Came Early

Monkey found his Easter present early and just about destroyed the box getting to it. So at 6:45am this morning I was out on the driveway. Nothing like some cool brisk morning air to wake you up.

This is the morning smile.
He's telling the neighbors he found his present.
"Mommy's can't ride scooters, only daddy's, I'll teach you someday how to do it Mommy."

Notice how there are no pictures of Bogie or I? We weren't looking too hot in our pj's, but I did manage to put sunglasses on. But brushing my teeth was out of the question.
Clarification:Okay we don't really celebrate with the Easter Bunny, but he did know that he was getting something because of Easter. This weekend will be about the true meaning, a Risen Savior.

Sucked in

I got sucked into the Twilight series.
I've been contemplating reading them for a while, since I am such a scaredy pants I've put if off for over a year, but at the recommendations of plenty of friends, I figured I would check it out, just to see what all of the rage is about. So for the past 3 and a half days I've been reading (along with holding a sick child, yet again), and reading. I am going to get the next book in a few days. Right Erin? Casey? Kim? Somebody?

My Twilight thoughts: Definitely a plot I would have never, could have never, come up with. Ever. Makes you wonder if the person you're sitting next to at the airport is human or not. Edward was intriguing. I am infatuated with his whole intrigue with Bella. I'm not sure if I was reading too fast, but I thought the end of Twilight was a little abrupt. I wish, there was a scene with James and Edward and another with Bella and Charlie. But still, I am interested to see what transpires in New Moon.

The Cullen's way of living, in some sort of twisted way reminded me of being a Christian. Putting off what is easy and what you desire for fun for the good of something bigger. Am I the only one who felt like that?
But, its official, I'm a fan. Now I need to get Netflix or something to see the movie.

My mom rocks

(I could not find one picture of her looking at the camera.)

Okay, I was just scrolling through the comments on my blog and I came up to this post about nice expensive shoes and I noticed that there were a few more comments than I had originally gotten. Here is the comment from my mom, okay, it is signed "Mom" and I have not confirmed the source yet. (Cell phone is ringing as I type this.)

Voicemail. Darn.

Okay, I'm hoping its true. Totally sounds like my mom. Have I mentioned that I got school clothes every single year of my life from kindergarten all the way up to the first year of teaching? That is 13 years of public school, 4 years of college, 2 years of graduate school and then my first real job. Ha.

Don't be a hater.

Mr. Dunbar totally knew what he was getting when he married me.

This blog thing

There is something about this blog thing that creates community. I don't know. Maybe its our internal need for relationship. Maybe its an intrinsic signal that we are all equal in our longing for communication and need for love. I read about 20 blogs daily and then those of my girlfriends, whenever they post about new outings or recipes or ideas. I enjoy reading those decorating blogs. And of course there is that thing about blogging where the blogger gets to edit what you see on your computer. Most people wouldn't put pictures of their disastrous house on the Internet. And we always just take the pictures of what makes us look good or our home look perfect or our family outing where everyone is smiling right next to Mickey. But there is something about a blog post where a Momma pours her heart out, when she truly transparently shares her feelings out into the Blogosphere because right next to her is a baby in a hospital bed.

Recently I've been drawn in to those blogs with children in need of prayer.
Perhaps this is God's way of bringing me to my knees.
Maybe its His way of showing me to be thankful for what I have.
(Two superbly healthy lil guys.)
Maybe its His way of showing me that His people are loved.

MckMama posted this video on her blog yesterday. I cried my way through it and prayed for him extra big today. (Is there a such thing as an extra big prayer?) Please say a prayer for baby Stellan today and be sure to give your kid or a kid an extra hug.
